The aims of the course:
  • to identify the issues facing LDD students wishing to move on to University
  • to highlight key questions LDD students should ask Universities
  • to produce an Action Plan for LDD students to use before and during the UCAS application process
  • to share existing good practice by working through case studies
  • to suggest strategies for completing the UCAS form
  • to emphasise the importance of follow up
  • to familiarise delegates with the DSA and other financial support

This course is designed to help colleagues who deal with transition to Higher Education, ie: Learning Support Managers, Careers Staff, Connexions Advisors, Student Services Managers.

It will provide an opportunity to look at practical strategies for facilitating this difficult step. The emphasis will be on problem solving and sharing hands-on experience so that delegates can produce their own systems.
