Using ICT to support effective learning in Learning Resource Centres

The aims of the course:
  • To develop an awareness and understanding of how librarians and learning resource assistants can help library users to find things out, to support effective learning and to support reader development
  • To explore a range of world wide web (www) based resources and learning materials and assess their potential for supporting learning
  • To develop a presentation which could be used to introduce the outcomes of the exploration of resources to students
  • To plan a learning resource centre activity for learners that will enhance or improve their use of ICT in supporting their learning
Please note that this is a premium course with a minimum group size of 12 and a maximum group size of 15. All delegates will be able to work independently on their own computer for the duration of the course.

Reasons to attend.
The course is designed to introduce participants to the potential for ICT to support effective learning. It will provide practical experience of evaluating www based resources and learning materials to support effective learning and plan for their use with learners. Participants will be introduced to PowerPoint and will prepare a computer based presentation for use with learners in the learning resource centre. The course is intended for all those who run and work in libraries and learning resource centres on FE and sixth form colleges and in adult education centres.
